UNITE!!!
I mean, um, is a book by Ross Payton! See? I can be witty when it is forced upon me. So today, instead of doing any REAL work (As I’m supposed to) I’m checking out Zombies Of The world: A Field Guide to the Undead. This humerus little volume combines the writing of Ross Payton with the illustrations of Ean Moody, Tom Rhodes, Violet Kirk, Bryant Koshu and Myriam Bloom to create a funny and visually striking “nonfiction” tell-all on the zombie survival way of life.
The illustrations have a distinct comic-book style, and although there were several illustrators, they flow well throughout the book. It is written in an informative but social way that keeps you interested while you read.
The highlight for me was the Zombie Species reference, which listed 20 different styles of zombie, their habits, showed pictures, and made me giggle. I can easily compare the Western Mall Zombie to the North American Cabin Lurker. No, it doesn’t cover EVERY zombie nuance and question, but it is a clear and concise, conversational book.
Highly recommended for zombie lovers, zombie gamers, zombie haters, and as the occasional Mothers Day gift for the mom who has everything but knows very little about zombies. *cough* I have one in mind.
