The apartment is too good to be true, the landlady is a little out there, the caretaker is strange, so the family moves in. The wife sees bugs and feels bites, but her husband is oblivious, and the exterminator gives the place a clean bill of health. It is later suggested that they might not be your average blood thirsty insects.
Ever dealt with bed bugs for real? A nightmare in itself. Now these hellish bugs are tormenting this poor woman, and the author manages to paint the scene well. Each character is very carefully and colorfully drawn, the dialogue is very natural and the story line is… just creepy.
My only criticism of the book is that it felt like there were a lot of lose ends and unexplained ideas. (No spoilers!) That also felt like that could have been the intention. It reads quickly and easily, and causes new (or reinforces old) phobias.
