Recently, I had a Kickstarter page attack me via a close friend. This particular Kickstarter page jumped up, did a little dance, and really got my attention. The idea seemed simple enough, a phone app that provides a sort of workout companion/motivation tool in the form of a zombie survival story.
That last part get your attention? It sure got mine. The Kickstarter page got fully funded, and the project was launched.
So my first step was to research the program, my second step was to download it, put my shoes on, and go nuts. And go nuts I did. In the first three days, I finished each and every mission (30 total so far) was introduced to colorful characters in the township of Abel, and was attacked by 42 swarms of flesh-eating foes that make you speed up or become dinner.
You start your little adventure meeting Sam Yao, your constant contact to Abel Township. His voice (and bad jokes) are with you nearly every step of the way as you go on supply runs, recon missions, and scouting missions to gain more information about your situation. Imagine, you are running with a headset and a backpack through miles and miles of zombie-infested woods.
While I don’t recommend going crazy and trying to do the whole thing all at once like I did, you will find that it is very hard to stop once you’ve gotten started. Actually, moderation is a beautiful thing, not only will your muscles thank you, but you’ll be able to stretch the missions longer. It isn’t all story, you can choose your own custom playlist to run to between narratives.
Check them out at ZombiesRunGame.com. It is available for iPhone, Android and Windows, and you can register your game on the ZombieLink and track your pace, distance, and add supplies to Abel Township Buildings.
