Biding my time after the original release of Cereal Killers Trading Cards, I made sure to regularly check in with Wax Eye to see when I would be able to take a peek at the next round of horrors.
So when I got to pop open my brand new 3 pack of mini-cereal boxes, was I disappointed? Did they measure up to the first series? Did I get all the fun extras that we came to adore from the first series?
First of all, I like the stickiness. No, the gumball eye didn’t melt all over the cards, these are, in fact, sticker cards with adhesive backing. Instead of wondering what I should do when I get duplicates, I can find somewhere cool to stick ‘em.
Like the first set, you get 20 cards per mini-cereal box, plus an eyeball gum and new to this series, not one but TWO special premium gifts per box. Six tries to get your favorite sugar glitter card, glow-flo sticker, silver spoon foil card or a 1 of a kind sketch card.
Most of the spoofed cereal brands were repeats this time around, which makes sense as they only have so many brands in production. Impressive is how despite the repeats in subject matter, they managed to do a fantastic job of changing how they spoofed, what horrors were represented, and the art is just as gore-ious as the first batch. My favorite card? Apple Dracs (pictured in the set above) which features a warning on the bottom to make sure you don’t consume them in the early morning sunlight.
